LOVE YOUR BODY. IT CAN DO AMAZING THINGS
About Live BeautiFITly:
Hi everyone! My name is Christine, and I am here to tell you all about how I learned how to live beautiFITly, and to share some news, tips, and stories along the way!
Up until my senior year of high school I was a dancer. Whether it was once a week or four times a week, the “I can’t…I have dance” phrase was pretty common in my life. But that was okay, the accomplishment of doing a dance routine—and nailing it, always surpassed a day doing something else. I never really worried about working out since my exercise came from dance classes, (and I was slightly self-conscious about working out in front of other people...I was never the athletic type) but in November of my senior year I decided to up the anti on my physical activity.
I got a gym membership after years of intimidation of the gym studio stereotypes, ya know, super skinny girls and protein shake obsessed meat-heads, I decided that I was going to do this for me and maintain my own health. I started out on the treadmill a few times a week and it quickly became a routine that supplemented my dancing. Before you knew it, I was walking, running, crunching, or lifting for over two hours a day. It soon became an obsession. I would be in a terrible mood if I missed a day at the gym, and scrutinized my eating habits. Looking back now, I think that my aggressive exercising habits, indeed became a habit, but it was more of something I felt I HAD to do versus wanting to do. Thankfully, that’s not the case anymore.
Today, my workout routine has evolved. I’ve learned that although working out can dictate your routine or schedule, it doesn’t need to dictate your life. The biggest lesson I've learned with being fit, is finding your balance.
So here’s my explanation of it all, it can be 6 days or 3 days a week at the gym, or yoga once a week, it’s called doing what’s good for YOU, and not anyone else. In my mind it’s called living beautiFITly. Living your life the way you want it, and using exercise as a positive reinforcement and motivation to accomplish your goals. Feel free to surf around my blog for examples of how to create your own beautiFIT life. I am not an expert on fitness or nutrition, but the people I credit and interview are! This is all driven by my motivation to live a balanced lifestyle, and hopefully spread the word that the gym or that kick-your-butt kickboxing class is possible for anyone and the after affects are amazing…despite the muscle soreness!
That's my story, but here's a bit more about me.
I'm from Yorktown Heights, NY, hoping one day to live in Manhattan. I just graduated Quinnipiac University with a journalism degree. My editorial background is mostly in local news, but with my school newspaper, The Quinnipiac Chronicle, I got to write about health, fitness, entertainment and so much more. Currently I'm seeking employment in magazine writing or online reporting. My health and fitness focused stories are posted on the site but to see my other published clips check out my other blog here!
